Finding the optimal factory lighting set-up for a large space can be challenging as there are many factors to take into account, including:
- The nature of the work being done
- The layout of the factory floor
- Ceiling height
- The natural lighting properties of the space
At Veelite, we specialise in offering bespoke factory lighting solutions to cater for the specific needs of a given industrial building. For help and advice, feel free to give us a call – our personnel have years of experience in providing factory lighting solutions and we would be delighted to help you specify, price and buy the most appropriate lighting given your requirements.
In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the factory lighting projects we’ve undertaken in the past to give you an idea of what we can offer.
ABP Food Group
As part of the ABP’s overarching project to develop one of the most cost and energy efficient beef processing facilities in Europe, they contacted us to supply their Ellesmere premises with a state-of-the-art factory lighting set-up. This was a particularly challenging commission as there were a number of considerations to take into account. The factory lighting solution we delivered was the Veelite Luminaire, which proved ideal for three reasons:
- Its lamp is protected and it meets the stringent “no glass” regulations that apply to food processors i.e. it’s not liable to explode and disperse broken glass in the produce.
- The luminaire is dust tight, which makes it appropriate for wash-down spaces.
- Being both low maintenance and high performance it contributes considerably to ABP’s ambitious goal to be carbon neutral by 2020.

Pillar Wedge, Lancashire
Galvanising plants such as Pillar Wedge present a unique set of challenges due to the steady corrosion of steel and aluminium parts. Veelite has established a reputation for manufacturing robust lighting fixtures capable of withstanding harsh environments, and this stems in large part from many of our products having been designed to withstand the rigours of the petro-chemical industries. To address the factory lighting needs of the facility, an array of industrial highbays was installed at a height of 6m. Whereas previously the plant’s owners had to replace deteriorating lighting every few months before the installation, after Veelite had completed the set-up maintenance costs and man hours were reduced drastically.
